What were you struggling with before we started working together?
When I started working with Ashley, I felt like I was at war and disconnected from my body. I had been going round and round with myself trying to change patterns by doing what seemed to work in the past. I LOVE to exercise and hadn't felt that love for a long time, even though I was exercising several times a week. Essentially, I was going through the motions and nothing I did or didn't do seemed to make any difference.
What changes are you celebrating now?
A couple HUGE things have changed for me. For one, I don't feel like I'm eating paste anymore. Before I started working with Ashley, I could not seem to eat much that didn't come from a box or bag and wasn't made with only flour/salt/sugar. I seriously felt like I was eating paste; nothing tasted good and nothing was exciting. When I sit down with something I've made now, it TASTES GOOD and looks amazing because I'm using all the colors in my food choices.
There's been a HUGE change in how my body feels. When I move, I am actually in my body, feeling all my different muscles move and bend--even the ones I had forgotten existed. This embodied feeling goes well beyond just physically feeling good to me, it helps me in responding to patterns of depression and anxiety that I experience. When I am grounded in my body, these feelings don't carry me away as far as when I'm not grounded in my body.
I'm so much more able to do activities I love! I used to have muscle pain after swimming, and now that simply doesn't happen anymore. I also went skiing for the first time, and when others in my party were looking to call it a day, I was just getting ready for the next round! The next day I was expecting to be sore, but instead I felt great and even did one of Ashley's workouts!
I love the accountability and education throughout her programs. She is an amazing source of support when things are going really well and even more so when my inner critic gets on my case and tells me I'm doing everything wrong.
